Great Borders River Clean set for weekend of 27th-29th May

The dates for the first Great Borders River Clean of 2022 have been set for the weekend of Friday 27th- Sunday 29th May.

The Great Borders River Clean's organiser, GreenTweed Eco founder and Melrose teacher Tom Rawson explained the decision to move to a three day weekend format:

"The Great Borders River Clean has grown to be the largest event of its kind in the United Kingdom. However, I am always looking for more ways to encourage young people to take part. In the run-up to Christmas, I sold some of my paintings to raise a £500 prize fund to encourage primary schools to take part. Involving young people directly in the Great Borders River Clean and inspiring them to help keep the environment clean and healthy is the ultimate aim of the project. I really hope that more schools will be encouraged to take part on the Friday."

Full details of locations and timings for each town and village will be published when confirmed but please feel free to contact Tom at tom@greentweedeco.org if you would like to be involved.
